The Rise and Fall of Oakwood

  Taken in June 2022 From Oakwood Theme Park's opening in 1987 (then known as Oakwood Leisure Park), the park has grown from a simple wooden fort and go cart track into having an award winning wooden roller coaster (which, when opened in 1996 remained the newest wooden roller coaster in the UK until the opening of Wickerman in 2017), the UK's first beyond vertical drop roller coaster and countless more unique and thrilling attractions. Despite this, Oakwood now is known as one of the worst theme parks in the UK, looks terrible and is subject to endless tabloid ridicule for being 'unsafe'. How on earth did it get this bad? Anyone There?

  Does anyone read blogs anymore? I suppose the answer to this is 'No, not really Ffin'. Do I care? That's a separate question. I started this blog as just a place to publicly journal what I get up to in my spare time. If nobody reads it, great; I still have a place I can put whatever I feel like writing. If people do read it, even better; I have an audience! This blog isn't really themed to anything particular other than 'me', although that does sound a bit pretentious. What you can expect though is general interest in theme parks, 3D printing, perfumery, roller coaster design, software engineering, rants about Rekordbox, and trip reports. A recent trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, my first time!
